For the fourth year running, the IMC welcomed students from various countries to this year’s ACMAR Doctoral Colloquium in Vallendar. Ten doctoral students from the UK, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, and Germany took the opportunity to discuss their research with an internationally renowned faculty: Associate Professor Sally Widener (Clemson University), Professor Anne Wu (National Chengchi University) and Professor Utz Schäffer (WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management) provided valuable feedback on the students’ work in progress.
The Doctoral Colloquium was held at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management on March 4th and 5th ahead of the 12th Annual Conference for Management Accounting Research (ACMAR). A number of different research areas were covered, including risk-taking in British investment banks, controller roles in organizations, and the short- and long-term implications of incentive schemes. Besides this, the doctoral students were given insights into the broad range of methods used in management accounting research.
In addition to the scientific program, the colloquium agenda provided sufficient time for students to network informally with each other and the faculty – an opportunity greatly appreciated by the participants.
